  • If a third party (proxy) has applied for your Visa Exemption Registration on your behalf, please obtain the PDF data or paper copy of your Visa Exemption Registration Notice with QR code from them, 1) scan the QR code with your device, 2) enter your passport number and date of birth, 3) then you can display your Visa Exemption Registration Notice on your device. The time displayed at the top right of the screen should count down. This confirms that the Visa Exemption Registration Notice displayed is authentic. Screenshots are not accepted.

  1. Individual who has two or more travel records as a temporary visitor to Japan in the last three years
  2. Individual who has a travel record as a temporary visitor to Japan in the last three years and has financial capacity to pay the travel expense
  3. Individual who has a travel record as a temporary visitor to Japan and two or more travel records as a temporary visitor to G7 countries (except Japan) in the last three years
  4. Individual with sufficient financial capacity
  5. Spouse or children of (4)

【For Nationals of Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam】

【For Nationals of Saudi Arabia】
From 4th December 2023, nationals of Saudi Arabia with considerable financial capacity are eligible for Multiple-entry visas for short-term stay for the purpose of tourism, business, visiting relatives or friends etc. (Period of stay for each visit: 90 days, Validity: 3 years)
  *MRP (Machine Readable Passport)/e-Passport is required for a Multiple Entry Visa Application.

1. Individual with considerable financial capacity
2. Family member of an individual mentioned in (1):
    spouse, immediate family within the second degree of kinship and siblings living in the same household (blood relatives and relatives by marriage).

Location of Consular Section

The Consular Section is located in the Embassy within the New Diplomatic Area on Al Shabab Street, Onaiza, Doha.
The visitor’s gate is located near Maryam Bint Saroor Mosque.

 

Visa Fees

Visa fees vary depending on the applicant's nationality and the type of visa.
Please check here for the details.
The fees are to be paid in CASH at the time of passport collection.
Please note that only cash is accepted and Credit/Debit Cards are NOT accepted. Please prepare the Exact Amount of the visa fees.

How to Apply

  • Applicants or his/her proxies must visit the embassy in person with all the required documents between Sunday to Thursday from 7:30 to 12:00. (No appointment is required.)
  • Required documents and application process differ depending on applicant’s nationality and purpose of travel.
  • Only residents in Qatar are eligible for the visa application at the Embassy of Japan in Qatar.
  • All applicants, including GCC nationals, must submit Qatar ID.
 

Exemption of Visas

Japan has taken measures on the visa exemption arrangements for 71* countries/regions as shown in the link below. 
*The Visa Waiver arrangement for short-term stay for nationals of Panama with ePassport has been implemented since 1st April 2024.

Nationals and citizens of 71 countries and regions listed above are not required to obtain visas to enter Japan when the purpose of their visits are tourism, commerce, conferences, visiting relatives/acquaintances etc. However, when foreign nationals engage in paid activities in Japan or their periods of stay exceed those stipulated in each country’s arrangement of short-term stay, visas will be required to enter Japan.
