Visa Information
On 2,3,4 April, a large number of visa applications are expected and you may need to wait more than 1 hour to apply. It is recommended to apply after 9 April if visa is not urgent.
The restrictions on new entry of foreign nationals was lifted on 11th October 2022.
Accordingly, the following new measures have been implemented.
- Visa is no longer required for the nationals of visa exemption countries/regions (e.g. UK, France, Australia etc.) listed in the link below for a short-term stay (up to 90 days) https://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/short/novisa.html
- The measure to limit the entry of foreign tourists to those on package tours has been lifted.
- ERFS Certificate is no longer required.

Location of Consular Section
The Consular Section is located in the Embassy within the New Diplomatic Area on Al Shabab Street, Onaiza, Doha.
The visitor’s gate is located near Maryam Bint Saroor Mosque.

How to Apply
- Applicants or his/her proxies must visit the embassy in person with all the required documents between Sunday to Thursday from 7:30 to 12:00. (No appointment is required.)
- Required documents and application process differ depending on applicant’s nationality and purpose of travel.
- Only residents in Qatar are eligible for the visa application at the Embassy of Japan in Qatar.
- All applicants, including GCC nationals, must submit Qatar ID.
Exemption of Visas
Nationals and citizens of 68 countries and regions are not required to obtain visas to enter Japan when their visits are tourism, commerce, conferences, visiting relatives/ acquaintances, etc. However, when foreign nationals engage in paid activities in Japan, or their periods of stay exceed those stipulated in each country’s arrangement of short-term stay, visas will be required to enter Japan.
