What is Visa Waiver Passport Registration?
- It is the arrangement which allows Qatari nationals to enter and stay in Japan up to 30 days for the purpose of Short-Term Stay (tourism, business and visiting friends etc.) simply by registering their e-Passports.
- The registration is valid for 3 years or until your passport expires. Whichever comes first.
- During this period, you can travel to Japan multiple times as long as each stay does not exceed 30 days. (There is no need to register your passport everytime you go to Japan.)
- When your registered passport expires, you must register your new passport.
- When you stay in Japan for more than 30 days, you must obtain a visa.
- Special/Diplomatic Passport Holders are eligible to enter Japan and stay there up to 90 days without obtaining a visa or registering their passport.

How to Register your Passport
(A) Application in Person at Embassy (Appointment Required)
1. Please book an appointment and visit the Embassy with the following documents.・Passport (ICAO compliant e-Passport)
・Passport Copy in Colour (the page of status items)
・Application Form for Passport Registration
2. Processing time is 1 working day.
*You can collect your registered passport on the next working day.
3. There will be a sticker and a stamp with the registered date on your passport.
4. At the check-in counter, please show the page with the sticker and the stamp.
(B) Online/JAVES Application (No Appointment Required)
1. Please start the online application from JAVES System.
2. Processing time is 2 WORKING days. Please check Processing Time for JAVES.
3. Once registered, you will receive a “Visa Exemption Registration Notice” email from JAVES System.
4. At the check-in counter, please show the notification email (above) on your active device.
*Screenshots and printouts are not accepted.
*The time displayed on the screen should count down.
