Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship 2027 for Qatari Nationals
This scholarship is open only to applicants with Qatari citizenship. Applicants with citizenship of another country should contact the Embassy or Consulate of Japan in their country of citizenship.
Application Instructions
- Application deadline: June 11, 2026
- Submission: Email only to the Embassy of Japan.

- Documents: Send all documents as separate, clearly scanned PDF files.
- Email subject: MEXT Scholarship with your name
- Total email size: Under 10MB
- Emails over 10MB will be rejected.
- Incomplete or unclear applications will not be considered.
- Late submissions will not be accepted.
- The Certificate of Health is required only after passing the first screening.
Scholarship Selection Process

Stage 1: First Screening
The Embassy of Japan in Qatar will select preliminary candidates through document review, examinations, and interviews.

Successful candidates in the examinations will proceed to interviews. Those who pass the first screening will be recommended to the Japanese government (MEXT) for the second screening.
Stage 2 : Second Screening
Candidates who pass the first screening will be recommended to MEXT. Final results will be announced after January 2027.
Important Information
- Written exams must be taken in person in Doha (mid-June).
- No alternative dates or online options.
- Research students must obtain acceptance from universities in Japan by September 1, 2026.
- If you get the scholarship, you'll do a language course before university: one year for undergraduate students, and six months for research students. Applicants who have sufficient Japanese language proficiency may request to enroll directly in their university without taking the preparatory education course.
