May 14-23, 2026　Japan Booth at the 35th Doha International Book Fair

From 14 to 23 May, the Embassy of Japan in Qatar participated in the 35th Doha International Book Fair at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) with a Japan Booth introducing Japanese culture.
The booth featured books on Japan, cultural displays, origami workshops, calligraphy name-writing sessions, a kimono-themed photo corner, and information on tourism, Japanese language study, and studying in Japan. Visitors also received copies of *Niponica* magazine and Arabic-language reference materials on Japan.
A highlight of the event was two live calligraphy demonstrations by Mr. Kitamukai, a Japanese calligrapher residing in Qatar, which attracted many visitors.
The booth welcomed more than 3,000 visitors during the fair, reflecting the strong interest in Japanese culture, language, tourism, and literature in Qatar.
Ambassador Hisajima also visited the booth and gave a calligraphy demonstration. He also participated in the launch event of the Japanese edition of Qatar's encyclopedia, organized by the Ministry of Culture.
